Aim: To demonstrate the effects of anaerobic respiration (muscle fatigue)
Hypothesis: I predict my fingers will get tired after about 10 seconds
Equipment: A spring-loaded clothes peg
Method: 1. Hold the clothes peg as shown in the diagram
2. Relax your fingers so that the peg closes all the way
3. Squeeze your thumb and forefinger so the peg is fully open
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as quickly as you can until you experience muscle fatigue
Results/Observations: I got 41 secs until my arm began to get sore
Conclusion/Discussion: I had the peg in between my fingers squeezing it to open and shut. My hypothesis was wrong as I made it over 30 seconds longer than what I had originally predicted.
Evaluation: I could maybe changed my technique some how
Hi Nelly, great start with your scientific write up. You have used each of the needed headings.
ReplyDeleteYour conclusion is actually an observation :). In the conclusion you should put whether your results matched your hypothesis or not. For the discussion you should put down why you think your results happened- explain what is going on. For example, my arm got sore because I was using up all the energy and there was not enough oxygen to make more using aerobic respiration, so I had to use anaerobic- which makes less energy.
